Flash flood watch through Friday evening for some counties in West Virginia, Ohio
CHARLESTON, WV (WCHS/WVAH) —
The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch through Friday evening for multiple counties in West Virginia and Ohio.
In West Virginia, the watch is in effect for Barbour, Braxton, Calhoun, Doddridge, Gilmer,
Harrison, Jackson Lewis, Mason, northwest Pocahontas, northwest Randolph, northwest Webster, Pleasants, Ritchie, Roane, southeast Pocahontas, southeast Randolph, southeast Webster, Taylor, Tyler, Upshur, Wirt and Wood.
Meanwhile, southeast Ohio counties under the watch include Athens, Gallia, Jackson and Vinton.
The weather service said storms could produce excessive rainfall that combined with the wet soils across the area could produce flash flooding, especially along small streams, creeks, low spots and poor drainage areas.
