A man and a woman are facing charges after deputies said they kept drugs within reach of a 3 year old inside a camper.

Nicole Riser, 22, of Fayetteville and Brandon Clark, 21, of Mount Hope are charged with gross child neglect creating risk of injury and possession of heroin. Deputies have pending warrants on both for obstruction and conspiracy.

Deputies responded early Friday morning to a home in Mount Hope to attempt to serve warrants, according to a news release from the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.

The arrest warrants were for Riser and Clark. Both were found in a camper at the location. Deputies also found Riser’s 3-year-old child in the camper as they were executing the warrants.

Deputies said the child was sleeping on a pile of blankets. Heroin and associated paraphernalia were found in the camper within reach of the child, deputies said.

Riser and Clark both were taken into custody. Custody of the child was transferred to a grandparent. Child Protective Services has been contacted to initiate an investigation.

Riser and Clark are currently each being held in the Southern Regional Jail on $10,000 bond.
