Elk Valley Branch Library reopens at Crossings Mall in Elkview
ELKVIEW, WV (WCHS/WVAH) —
Good news for residents in the Elkview area as the community’s branch library reopened Tuesday at the Crossings Mall.
The Elk Valley Branch had been closed since the June 2016 flood destroyed the bridge to the Crossings Mall, but the library has reopened after the bridge was replaced and businesses are starting to return to the shopping complex.
A temporary facility, the Elk Valley Express Library on Pennsylvania Avenue, provided some library services to community residents after the flood, but it closed about a week ago to give staff time to replace and relocate the building inventory to the Crossings Mall.
Library officials said in a news release that items checked out from the Elk Valley Express Library that would have become due during the closure will now be due on Monday, Aug. 7. With the extended loan period in effect, no overdue fines will be assessed until after Tuesday, Aug. 1.
The Elk Valley Branch will be open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. It will be closed on Sunday.
