Charleston police announce locations for National Drug Take Back Day

Charleston police announced sites where unused or expired prescriptions can be dropped off this weekend on National Drug Take Back Day.

Items can be turned in 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at the following locations:

* Walgreens 655 Washington St. W.

* Drug Emporium, 1603 Kanawha Blvd. W.

* Dollar General, 1555 Washington St. E.

* Piggly Wiggly, 5003 MacCorkle Ave. SE

* Rite Aid, 1015 Bridge Road

* University of Charleston Robert C. Byrd School of Pharmacy, 2300 MacCorkle Ave.

During the same hours, the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office said it will be participating in National Drug Take Back Day. Deputies will be posted at detachments and accepting unused or expired prescriptions in St. Albans, Cross Lanes, Sissonville, Elkview and Quincy.

Also, a drug take back box is located at the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office Charleston headquarters and available for disposals during business hours on weekdays.
