Bank robbery reported in Charleston

Charleston police said a bank was robbed at gunpoint in Kanawha City.

The BB&T branch at 38th Street and MacCorkle Avenue was robbed about 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Tony Hazelett, chief of detectives with the Charleston Police Department, said a man entered the bank, showed a handgun and asked for all of the money. After a teller handed over an undetermined amount of money, the robber left the bank, he headed east on MacCorkle Avenue.

The robber was described as a light-skinned black male who was wearing a black jacket with a hood covering his head, blue jeans and dark-colored shoes. He had a black backpack and his face was partially covered.

No one was injured during the robbery.

Police used K-9s to try to track the robber and will be reviewing security video.
