Welcome to Screen Gems!

Hello. I'm Kennie Bass. Thanks for stopping by the page. I'm very glad you're here.

I've had a life-long love affair with the movies.

Since I was a little kid, I've been mesmerized by the adventures I've watched unfold on the big screen. Whether it was seeing 'Star Wars" at the St. Albans Mall Twin Cinemas, "Blazing Saddles" at the Valley Drive-In, "True Grit" at the Walnut Grove Drive-In, "The Empire Strikes Back" at the Keith-Albee Theater or "Superman II" at the Camelot Theater, the journey has been amazing.

Action flicks, science-fiction tales, romantic comedies, musicals, westerns, dramas, mysteries, funny films, horror movies, foreign films and documentaries have been my ticket to bigger and more fantastic worlds.Name a movie genre, and I enjoy something about it.

I started reviewing films on WVAH-FOX 11 in 2000. Since then, I've talked about more than five hundred movies. On this page, you'll find more than 300 of my reviews. Feel free to scroll through and check some of them out.

It's important to let you know I'm a movie reviewer, not a critic. I haven't had any formal training in directing, cinematography, lighting, sound or costumes. I didn't major in Film Crtiique nor am I a movie expert. What I am is a fan, just like you. I try to give you an honest opinion about movies and the reasons I feel the way I do about them.I hope to offer useful information which could help you decide what films to see, and maybe even urge you to watch something you otherwise might have missed.

In addition to reviewing movies, I'm also the voice of the Marquee Cinemas at Southridge Movie Hotline at 304-744-FILM (3456) and the Marquee Cinemas at Pullman Square Movie Hotline at 304-525-SHOW (7469). Give those numbers a call if you want to know what's playing in the Charleston and Huntington areas. You can always visit their website for movie times and information at www.marqueecinemas.com

To give you an idea of my movie tastes, I've included a list of my 100 favorite films. This is a living document, changing as new movies come out and bump old ones off of the list. And from time to time, I may even revisit a film and change my mind about it.

If you have questions about a specific film or just want to discuss movies, send me an email at kbass@wchtv.com

Until next time, let's pop some popcorn, grab a drink and some candy, sit back and relax as the lights turn low....I'll see you at the movies...

Enjoy the show!
